The Nokia 6.1 Plus, announced in July 2018 and released in August 2018, is one of the more recent in a line of pure Android (Android One) smartphones by HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones.

What’s in the box?

The Nokia 6.1 plus comes in moderately-sized white rectangular box.

As usual there isn’t much in the box.

Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with stories about the latter. I know what you are waiting for, so let’s get right into it. I decided to make a list of the most important things you need to know about the Nokia 6.1 Plus before you decided to purchase it.

Sleek design

At first look, it has a similar screen design to the Apple iPhone X but not entirely. The Nokia 6.1 Plus body has a deliberate sleek design and well-finished curves at all four angles.  It is definitely appealing at first glance and touch.

Honestly, when I took a good look at the phone, I literally felt attached to it already, even without turning it on.

Battery life

At first, I thought that battery life would be like on previous Nokia phone batteries in terms of durability but it is not quite like that. The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a 3060mAh battery but it is not all that fantastic.

Don’t get me wrong, the Nokia 6.1 Plus lasts considerably long — the whole day on normal usage —  but it consumes a lot of battery power. I hope this doesn’t affect the life-span of the battery.

Camera:  A step up

Well, this is what a lot of people research on before purchasing any mobile phone and honestly, the Nokia 6.1 Plus camera doesn’t disappoint.

The camera also comes with a Pro-Mode feature where you can adjust some couple of things like the white balance, focus mode, ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation.

The colours are pretty close to true colours and are quite vivid. In low light, the camera’s ( front and rear) are not too fantastic but with the right lighting conditions, the picture will turn out well. Anyways, it a good step up from the previous ones.

Fast charging

The Nokia 6.1 Plus has a fast charge feature but it doesn’t come right out of the box. You will need to connect to a Wi-Fi service and upgrade the Operating System to the latest Android patch.

Price tag

The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a price tag of  $282 USD which is almost equivalent to about ₦102,000. While it is quite pricey for me personally, it is definitely a good purchase.

Perfect Android?

This is for you to decide but for me personally, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is a good mobile phone, even if it doesn’t come with a silicone case and a good earphone. Yes, it has a sleek design, premium finish, good camera quality and above average battery life.

However, I still feel there is room for much more better improvement on Nokia smartphones.

What do you think?
